Our passion is living well and sustainable off our farm.

No boss. No commute.

Living well is pursuing passions. One passion of ours is garlic. We grow Russian Red, a robust rocambole variety known for its pungency and long shelf-life. The scape, or flower stalk, from this garlic is the titular ingredient in our Original Garlic Scape Salt

Another passion is providing a clean, safe, and healthy farm stay experience for our guests.

And too there is our passion for real bread made in our unique wood-fired oven. Naturally-leavened bread baked from locally sourced certified organic ingredients. Since 2020, baking as we do has become untenable as both hobby and profession. Perhaps sometime soon the input expense will reflect the effort required. Until then the wood-fired oven is dedicated exclusively to roasting off The Original Garlic Scape Salt.

Living sustainable is about one’s impact on the environment. To this end we farm organically practicing crop rotation with the focus on soil health and fertility. We have installed a solar panel array calculated to achieve zero-net hydro consumption. As of Spring 2024, farmersdotter has produced a lifetime energy of 137 MWh which is the equivalent of over 53,000 kg of CO2 emissions saved or over 1600 trees planted. You can monitor the solar panel’s production in real-time from our public site on Solar Edge.

Here’s the story.

Living well and sustainable is about choices. Mostly the choices we make at the check-out. Every time we open our wallet we are essentially endorsing a product or service. Change someone’s bottom line, and you just might get noticed. The most powerful vote to effect change is in your wallet. #VoteWithYourWallet.
